Hydroponics in the living room

Hello from the Ozark mountains. I am adding a 4-seasons greenhouse to my house. I would like to grow organic hydroponic veggies along one side of it. But, we are using it for a sitting room and impromptu guest room. I have gardened in a greenhouse, but know nothing about hydroponics. Would there be any reasons that I would not want the hydroponic containers in our living space? Are the organic solutions smelly? Are the lights intense, hot, or otherwise unpleasant? I am looking for experienced comments before I invest in any equipment. Thanks.

Re: Hydroponics in the living room

In answer to your first question, the nutrients are not smelly. The lights do thruogh off heat, and depending on the size of the light the brightness can be intense to look straight at. These lights are very plesant to sit near or under in the winter and can add a lot to your sun room.
