The difference between HPS and LPS lights

Hi
What is the difference between an HPS and a LPS light ? Is there the difference in a frequency of waves, or an efficiency, or a beam...?
Thanks

Re: The difference between HPS and LPS lights

From what I have been able to find out it seems as if LPS OR Low Pressure Sodium run more efficiently and cooler. However,I don't know if they can run in conventional ballasts or the lumen output. It does seem to have similar spectrums though. These lights have been designed to help stop light pollution in major cties by giving off a softer yellow then merury vapor and HPS bulbs.Once again these lights, mercury vapor and other lights are made for lighting streets and have different spectrums from bulbs that are made for growing plants.I found most of this out very quickly. You may want to try searching the web for more info yourself.
Thanks G.T.G
